Monday we escaped the mess here and went to spend most of the day with friends, which given the glorious weather was mostly in the garden. We did also have a game of Pictionary though.
Yesterday as well as a visit to the dentist and the library, the girls' piano lessons and korfball in the evening, we did quite a lot of reading, both more Lemony Snicket and The Middle Ages (from this set). We also had a look at these Usborne Kings & Queens cards reading the relevant ones as the came to the throne in the book. M also did quite a lot of reading herself, finishing off the Ruby Redfort book we borrowed from friends.

Today I did a lot of reading to the girls. We were up and got going rather earlier than usual, because I had a doctor's appointment and afterwards M went to the park (I think she was mostly practising leapfroging over some posts which are there for the purpose as part of an exercise trail), while K & M did a bit of shopping. As well as finishing the fifth book of the Lemony Snicket series, which we are still all really enjoying, we continued with The Middle Ages and Kings & Queens cards. We also watched the first episode of The Human Body on dvd, which certainly started well and I think was a good choice. M & I also had a go with Jenga Tetris, which we'd borrowed on Monday, but neither of us were particularly taken with it. Both girls also had another go at this logic puzzle, K managed the hardest level on her own and M did too, but with a little bit of help. M had her French horn lesson and is getting on really well, after just 4 lessons her progress is really marked. Both girls also had their swimming lesson to round off a productive, but relaxed day.
