This weekend has been very arty. Friday was a quiet day, with lots more Lemony Snicket, some more Middle Ages and, for M, cricket. A made it home Friday evening, which although nearly 24 hours later than planned, was better than we'd anticipated.
Saturday M was out for the day for the Brownie 100 year celebration, which was a trip to
Wheelgate Park. A dropped her off at 8.15am and K & I picked her up at about 6 o'clock, and since A was playing cricket in the afternoon, K & I had a some very rare time with just the two of us. She had decided that she'd like to do one of the things that M & I had done while she was at Scout camp a few weeks ago, go to
Funky Pots. She chose a small shark from the seconds shelf, that she had seen when we picked up M's and my bowls, and also a small dragon and she really took her time with them. After we got home, we had a game of
Rummikub before we went to pick up M.
This morning (and indeed this evening), I read some more Lemony Snicket, we're not about half way through book 4. After lunch, we went to have a look at the
Lady Bay Arts Festival. We started off with a lady I know from choir, where we had a go at
encaustic art, where you use coloured waxes and an iron. A had had to go into the office, so it was just the three of us to start with and we all had a go at this.

We then moved on, A joined us and K & M had a go at a couple of other things in different venues, including making sock puppets.

Finally we did something that A & I wanted to do, which was watch one of the artists at work, doing a pottery demonstration. We happened to time it really well, so watched the process right from the beginning.
When we got home, M and A did some gardening, transplanting some of the seedlings that have been growing on M's windowsill into the garden.
