The girls and I were up and out incredibly early today, for us anyway - we saw other folks on their way to school! This morning we started with The Middle Ages and after reading some of that, we went off at a tangent to find about a bit more about Halley's Comet, since it was mentioned as being shown on the Bayeux Tapestry having appeared shortly before the Norman invasion in 1066.
We also made a start on getting back into our human body project, looking at reproduction. We looked at a few of our numerous books and I read the relevant sections with them snuggled up with me on the sofa to look at the pictures and photos. We focused mainly on conception (less about how that happens although we did touch on how nowadays it doesn't need to be a man and a woman, but the sperm and the egg are still essential!) through to birth, but did touch on the different reproductive systems in the male and female bodies. As I said we have quite a few books about the human body; we started with the simplest ones, so will be returning to the subject to look at puberty, which is a topic quite close to home at the moment!
Having finished the first Lemony Snicket book, we made inroads into the second one and we also watched some more of the Lego Harry Potter video (rather more than I'd intended, because I dozed off!)
Finally M went along (half an hour late unfortunately because the info on the website was wrong) to the junior session at A's cricket club. She was the only girl in her age group, but wasn't bothered by that and she enjoyed it and is keen to return next week.
