Back home and back in the swing.

Once back home from our trip we had a busy couple of days.  On Monday the girls had a drama group, which they had mixed feelings about beforehand.  They had previously been to two sessions, both of which had been Harry Potter themed, which they had really enjoyed, but knowing that this one wasn't they were less keen.  I was quite surprised that the theme of dinosaurs wasn't enough to make them more enthusiastic, as it's a topic that they are both still interested in.  They did really enjoy it though and are looking forward to the next one, which is continuing the theme.  I was very surprised to hear that they didn't raise any objections to the fact that on their 'journey to the time of dinosaurs' they met a cavewoman, although as I understand it they did not allow their friend Z's mistake of having triceratops during the Jurassic period to go uncorrected!
Apart from drama and Brownies for M, they had a go at playing Forbidden Island with just the two of them and we had a go with the three of us as well as some more of White Boots.

K & M playing Forbidden Island.
Tuesday was very busy.  I impressed myself mightily by managing to get up early enough and be organised enough to get a casserole on in the slow cooker before we left for Fun Club at about quarter to ten (as the girls will tell you, I am not a morning person).  Fun Club consisted of board games in the morning and the annual table top sale in the afternoon.  Despite loving board games generally, K did not want to participate as she told me that she 'doesn't like playing with random people'.  M joined in with a group of mostly 10+ girls with a game of The Yes! No! Game and had great fun.  K meanwhile was setting up our table for the table top sale, with one end for her things, the other for M's and the middle for things that belong to both of them or the family.  The sale used to be in November and as a result we have had three big boxes of toys, games, books and more sitting on our landing for nearly 6 months, since we had a big clearout at the end of the summer.  We did really well and made well over £30 between us and of course K & M handled the money, gave correct change and so on.

Our table before we sold lots of things!
From Fun Club we had to dash off to get to gymnastics, where I played a card game with a French toddler while the girls did their thing.  We carried on with a couple more chapters of White Boots before the girls went off to korfball.

Today was a much quieter day.  For a start we all slept in rather late, even by our standards.  K & M were completely and utterly engaged playing with playmobil pretty much all morning, they made up a play, and had planned to perform it for me, but chose to do other things in the end.  M wanted to do some baking and after I'd encouraged her to choose something that didn't involve fancy decoration, because I thought we'd run out of time before swimming, she decided to make shortbread jammy dodgers.  I suggested she times the recipe by 1.5, which she did without trouble.

They were very tasty!

As well as that, I continued with White Boots and  I think we'll be finished by the end of the week and the girls had their swimming lesson.
