Well, actually it was the other way round. This morning I took K & M to a friends' birthday party at Hicks Lodge in the National Forest. Their bikes just about fit in the boot, so I stayed in the cafe and chatted to the birthday girl's granny, while her parents took 9 girls off on for about an hour and a half bike ride. They came back in very high spirits, despite several tumbles by various girls, and all agreed it was fantastic, particularly the bumps. We will definitely be returning en famille soon. Not only because the girls want to, but I want a go too!
When we got back, despite the lovely weather, we spent most of the rest of the afternoon indoors. A few days ago our latest dvd arrived from lovefilm: Shakespeare - Animated - Comedy (handy that - since both girls won't go near any tragedy). M watched an episode of The Secret Garden first (and then another afterwards), then K and I settled down and watched Twelfth Night, followed by As You Like It. Sadly M has been put off Shakespeare somewhat by K's insistence on watching dvds, but I'm hoping she might be give these ago. They're half hour adaptations of the story much of the original language rather than the full play, so I think she might. I'm enjoying listening out for actors I recognise, so far there's been Willie Rushton and Hugh Grant.
The girls have also been listening again to the Paddington Bear cd (M's also asked the library to get another one in for her) and K has found Peru on our globe and we've pondered which part of Peru is likely to be the darkest.
