While we do have a couple of things that continue over the summer (swimming and gymnastics), most of the groups or activities that we (or just K & M) go to do stop. Today was the first post-summer start back thing and later will be the first of a new activity for both girls too.
The first Tuesday of the month is Fun Club, which today meant a visit from Zoolab for the under 10s. There was a little bit of talk and explanation and the opportunity to hold or touch most of the animals that the woman had brought with her, which included: a bearded dragon, a millepede, a hissing cockroach, a giant African land snail, a tree frog, a tarantula, a scorpion, a python and a rat. There were also some questions and answers in both directions. Since everybody in the group had the chance to touch each of the animals (except the tarantula and the scorpion) there was quite a bit of waiting about, but overall it was a pretty good session. M sat on my lap for most of it and was happy to touch most of the animal, but didn't want to hold any. K on the other hand surprised me by happily touching or holding all of them. There was also plenty of time for playing and catching up with friends.
Later we're off to their first 'proper' go at korfball, rather than the tasters which just involved having a go at shooting.
