Money and making.

This morning K & M were busy in the playroom and I clearly wasn't wanted there, so I baked a cake.  K & M later appeared with some work they'd produced.  M had been painting another of the giraffe reflection pictures that she had seen on Mister Maker and had a go at before and had sent to Uncle S & Auntie P.

Very effective!
K had found something she wanted to try in a spirograph activity book she had been given a while back.  She explained that she had initially tried it with wax crayons, as per the instructions in the book, but that it hadn't worked very well, so she tried again this time using oil pastel crayons with better results.

She coloured patches of lots of different colours and then covered it all with black before using the spirograph to take off the top layer revealing the colour beneath.  She was quite pleased with the effect, but might have another go to try to make it more colourful.

M used the same technique but did a scribble on top rather than using the spirograph.

This afternoon K & M were looking on ebay at playmobil and lego advent calendars.  They had seen some in our local toyshop but they are rather expensive and not something that I would pay for, so the girls decided to see if they could find a more affordable one and share the cost.  While they were doing this, from another room, I heard a rather intriguing conversation.  I asked K about it later, when I took her to ballet and she explained that M has a 'savings account' with K.  This is to help M save up for some lego that she wants, K keeps some of her money and when she gives it back to her, she gives M some interest!  I'm not sure about the interest rates, nor how long M has to leave her money in the bank of K to get any interest, nor indeed if there's anything in it for K, other than helping her sister save up, but it was interesting!
